Physical activity is defined as bodily movement that increases the heart rate above normal and allows for higher energy (calorie) expenditure than normal. There are two types: moderate and vigorous activity. Kids need both.

Moderate physical activity can be described as an activity that can be done for 30-60 minutes without getting tired, but increases breathing.

Vigorous physical activity can be described as an activity that is difficult to do for long periods of time and results in heavy breathing and sweating.
